Codzilla: Day One Recap

The 4v4 action began Saturday afternoon, and the winner's semi-finals are set.

After the FFA’s conclusion, the 4v4 tournament got under way. The double-elimination bracket has eighteen teams competing for their share of $2000. The 4v4 section has split the teams among pro and amateur players to ensure the highest level of competition all weekend long. However, some amateurs have proven themselves to be the catalysts for their teams and are quickly making a name for themselves.

One of the highest seeds at the event, vD is made up of Scump and Nadeshot, and two amateur players, Methodz and Blindfire. They opened their rounds of play against an experienced TVA squad and were able to come away with a victory. In their next round, they took out a talented Doom team, that was led by Revan, and moved on to round three of the winner’s bracket.

The top seed in the 4v4 tournament is Collapse, led by TuQuick and Killa along with Carbon and Relax. After an unsettling start to the day, as they unexpectedly dropped their first map to Ascend, they were able to rally together. They completed the comeback in Round 1, and held on in Round 2 against a talented Dream Chasers roster. Dream Chasers is dropped early into the loser’s bracket, but their tough lineup consisting of Krump and Fears is sure to make a splash on Sunday afternoon.

Two other top teams made their way to the winner’s semi-final, as Juked and Twisted Method both battled through some challenging Round 2 opponents. Juked took out an up and coming team New Era after annihilating Top Gun in Round 1 and will play vD in the winner's semis. Twisted Method, led by Solo and Huddle, knocked Icons down to the loser’s bracket in Round 1 and defeated Bro in the last match of the night. They play Collapse in the winner’s semi-final on Sunday.

The day was filled with exciting matches throughout the day; all the action continues tomorrow, and can once again be found on our event hub page.
