Activision: No COD XP this year
Activision: No COD:XP this year
Activision have confirmed to the media that they will not be holding a COD:XP event in 2012.
The Call of Duty XP event was by far the largest event in the competitive calendar in 2011. With an unprecedented one million dollar tournament, many players from North America and Europe have had their taste of eSports riches and will now be bitterly disappointed to hear that Activision has no plans to hold a similar event this year.
Polygon reported the news during E3, whilst they spoke to representatives from the Black Ops II booth.
While their won't be an XP event, it appears that their presence at Gamescom, Germany in August will be the large multiplayer reveal. They did not, however, deny that the XP event will not return in the future.
"Last year's Call of Duty XP was a great way to celebrate our Call of Duty community and reveal Call of Duty Elite. Each year we try to surprise and delight our fans and this year we are planning to host some new experiences for our fans around the globe including at Gamescom later this summer in Cologne, Germany. While its possible we may host another XP in the future, we don't have plans to hold the event this year."
